Background: Derik Osede is an internationally known football player from Spain who started his career at the age of 9 in the youth academy of Real Madrid and played in several age groups there. He was also part of Spain’s U19 youth national team in 2012. From 2015 to 2018, he played for the English club Bolton Wanderers, and since 2018 he has been with the Spanish club CD Numancia. He spoke with us about good sleep.
Third of Life: Thank you for reaching out to us. Why is the topic of sleep so important to you?
Derik: As a professional athlete, I rely on quick and targeted recovery for good performance, which is why I have paid attention to many factors in my life, from my training to my nutrition. But only a good night’s sleep brought the big turning point. That’s why I’m certain: Good sleep is the best way to recover.
Third of Life: You have been able to try some of the products from our range – what is your favorite and why?
Derik: Definitely the GIANFAR pillow. As a side sleeper, it supports my neck on one hand and on the other hand still offers me very comfortable support.
Third of Life: What is your number one sleep tip that you would give to your fans?
Derik: Turning off all electronic devices one hour before going to bed. I am very grateful for the conveniences that electronic devices offer us nowadays and I wouldn’t want to be without my smartphone. But let’s be honest: we shouldn’t let them control us. That’s why I put all electronic devices aside about 1 hour before bedtime and focus entirely on “winding down” for sleep. It’s a small but amazing habit that you should consciously incorporate as a routine into your daily life.
